Ambassador Dina Kawar Attends Refugee Panel Discussion at New America Foundation

In recognition of World Refugee Day, Her Excellency Ambassador Dina Kawar participated in a panel discussion on the global refugee situation hosted by the New America Foundation alongside BakerRipley President and CEO Angela Blanchard, Senior Advisor at UNHCR Jana Mason, and Syrian Community Network Founder, Suzanne Sahloul.
During the discussion, Ambassador Kawar highlighted Jordan’s role in transforming challenges into opportunities through innovative solutions and forward thinking. She pointed out to the Jordan Response Platform for the Syria Crisis, which is the first nationally -led response plan of its kind, joining refugee and development strategies in one comprehensive national plan.
The panelists provided a deeper look into the world's 21.3 million refugees and the vital role that the U.S. has played in providing support to front-line states such as Jordan that house the vast majority of the world's refugees. Furthermore, the disucssion also delved into how refugees do not just come to America, but rather resettle in cities and become integral members of their communities.
