Army chief opens Jordanian-US military committee meeting

AMMAN -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lt. General Mahmoud Abdul Halim Freihat on Monday, opened the Joint Jordan-US Military Committee's 39th meeting in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein.
In remarks during the meeting, the army chief stressed the importance of such meetings as they provide an opportunity to exchange experiences. He also voiced thanks and appreciation for the US Congress and administration for their continued support to the Jordan Armed Forces-Army Army.
US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Kenneth B. Handelman said the United States was committed to supporting security and stability in the Kingdom, noting that the joint military committee is a key element for partnership between the two friendly states.
The meeting aims to boost cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, and agree on activities that will be carried out in the security and military fields.
