U.S Delegation Visits Independent Election Commission

AMMAN -- A US Congressional delegation representing the State of North Carolina on Wednesday visited the Independent Election Commission (IEC) where they met with its president Khaled Khalaldeh and members of the board of commissioners.
Khalaldeh briefed the delegation about the history of the IEC as well as the constitutional amendments that expanded the IEC's powers in managing and overseeing the elections, pointing to the major challenge that faced the commission as it held the municipal and local councils elections in the same day.
The IEC, he said, gained the confidence of citizens through ensuring transparency and integrity that encouraged citizens to the take part in the election process as well as decision making.
