Amman, Nov. 29 (Petra)- Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) has won the Lloyd’s List’s Terminal Operator Award, during their South Asia, Middle East & Africa Award ceremony which took place on 27 November in Dubai.
The ACT was chosen by a panel of expert judges and its achievement came in recognition of its distinguished operational performance, compared to port operators in the region, according to a statement issued by the company on Thursday.
Criteria for the evaluation of the terminal’s overall performance include safety records, operational efficiency and customer care.
Since 2006, Aqaba Container Terminal has invested about $ 300 million in its ongoing efforts to increase its capacity and to strengthen its position as the main Red Sea gateway to the Middle East.
The company, operated by IBM for international container terminals, continued its efforts to improve operational efficiency and increase the volume of handling, despite the complex geopolitical conditions in the region, as well as its support for national efforts to employ Jordanian workforce.
