FM meets counterparts, officials participating in WEF

Davos, Jan. 23 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Wednesday held meetings with a number of his counterparts and officials participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
Safadi met with Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Sweeney, as well as UN envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.
The meetings tackled enhancing bilateral cooperation as well as developments in the region, especially those related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Syrian crisis.
During the meetings, Safadi underlined the importance of the international community's participation in the London conference to support the Jordanian economy, to be held next month, not only to identify investment opportunities in the Kingdom that achieve common benefit but also to benefit from regional rebuilding projects, to which Jordan is a gateway.
The ministers expressed keenness to support Jordan and increase cooperation with it. They also lauded Jordan's his role as a power for stability, security and moderation as well as King Abdullah's efforts to resolve regional crises and achieve the stability necessary to support development.
Safadi participated in a special session on the situation in the region, during which he discussed the ongoing diplomatic and political efforts led by His Majesty the King to resolve the regional crises and progress towards creating environments that enable economic achievement and meet Arab societies' rights in a future that provides opportunities, security and safe living.
