Jordanian tech companies to participate in a US trade mission, 1st add

Amman, Jan. 16 (Petra) -- The Director General of the Chamber, Rose Alissi, said that the chamber's role is to look into the opportunities provided by the government to the private sector, pointing to its efforts to put Jordan on the global investment map and create opportunities for cooperation with international companies.
The mission aims to provide an opportunity for start-up businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to learn more about how to enter the US market and representatives of companies will meet with their business counterparts in the US sector.
AmCham-Jordan also works with strategic partners in the US to organize meetings specifically for the goal of matching the participating companies with each other to develop export and partnership operations.
Jordanian companies will visit a number of international companies such as Google, LinkedIn, Facebook and 500 Startups among others in the mission tour, attend specialized workshops to listen to experts on US market entry strategies, and attend the 2019 Silicon Valley annual conference and Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in both California and Utah respectively.
The United States is the world leader in the technology and services sectors, providing an ideal environment for Jordanian IT companies to be seen as a leading destination and a promising export market.
Jordanian companies are well positioned to develop lasting relationships with American companies backed by the Jordan – U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT).
The mission comes as part of the national trade coalition's work program on trade and exports in the services sector. It includes chambers of industry and commerce, Jordanian business associations and government institutions headed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.
The coalition aims to promote the FTA and bilateral trade and increase investment opportunities between the two countries. It serves as a focal point and strategic platform for all relevant institutions to facilitate dialogue, develop strategies, build capacity and develop policies that will enhance trade relations.
AmCham-Jordan was established as a national non-profit association and a member of the US Chamber of Commerce to promote the development of the national economy by promoting free trade and investment between Jordan and the United States, business development, capacity building of the Jordanian producer and exporter, develop human resources and communicate with the business community.
