Trade balance deficit shrinks 13% in nine months

The trade balance deficit has seen a 13.4 percent decrease in the in the first nine months of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, driven by an increase in the volume of national exports by 7.8 percent, according to figures published by the Department of Statistics (DoS). 

The value of national exports during the reporting period amounted to some JOD3.7 billion, compared to around JOD3.45 billion in 2018, an increase of 7.8 percent.

Imports during the same period amounted to JOD10.1 billion, a decrease of 13 percent, compared to the first nine months of 2018.
